HATTA DOLMAT

Fashion Designer Hatta Dolmat, born in the most historical place in Malaysia, Malacca. He was raised in Bangi, was never in a family of Fashion Industry. But this 27-year old Top Young fashion designer, picked up fashion while studying Arts in UiTM.

He then graduated witha Bachelor of Art in Fashion Design from the same university. After graduation, Hatta Dolmat look for his biggest break by entering fashion competitions in Malaysia, and was chosen as the best for all the competitions he entered.

Hatta Dolmat has won the Persona Pengantin Trophy as well as the prestigious Jarum Berlian Trophy in 2005. He has also participated in the KL Fashion week events.

Apart from that, his other achievements in the fashion competition includes the winner for the Jusco Young Designer Award 2003.

Hatta Dolmat has also gained international exposure when he won the Ethnic Chic DesignAward 2007 in Singapore, a design competition by Singapore FashionSociety and People's Associations.

He is also the top three finalist for the Project Runway Malaysia 2007 In 2008 Hatta is one of the Fashion Icon who participated in Bumiputra Designer Associations(BDA) and was honorably chosen as the Ten Rising Star by Malaysia International Fashion Week (Mifw).

A chapter of 2008 closed with a remarkable memory as he got the highest number of voters and won for the Most Popular Designer.Besides that he won the Best Dress 2 years in a row, worn by Erra Fazira (2007) and Julia Zeigler (2007) under the organisation of Anugerah Bintang Popular.

Hatta Dolmat believes he must do what ever it takes to distinguish himself in the competitive world of fashion designing in Malaysia. Hatta, with only five years experience in the industry under his belt,has taken the Malaysian fashion arena by storm.

An avid aficionado of John Galliano of Dior and Alexander Mcqueen, Hatta much talked about clothes bring and exciting vigor and a rebellious spark to the usually staid world of Malaysian fashion.

In love with haute couture where garments of high quality are created using expensive fabrics, sewn with extreme details and finishing touches, mostly using hand-executed techniques, he believes that creating a garment is just like telling a story.

His design was the most sought-after as maximum stars such as ErraFazira, Ning Baizura, Mila, Jaclyn Victor, Fasha Sandha,Fazura, Nurul, Julia Ziegler, and many celebrities were dressed by him with his unconventional collection and haute couture.

His work was first published in Rias magazine and soon after, almost all important fashion magazines in Malaysia have portrayed his work in their fashion column.Since then he also became a Wedding Dress Designer and Writer under the fashion column for Majalah Pengantin.

Winner - Young Designer Award 2003 by Jusco and One Utama.

Young Designer Awards: Is a designer award looking for new talent among the newly graduate university student’s and a platform form them to showcase their creative work. The winner of this award is judge by Malaysian establish designers.

2005
Winner - Trophy Pesona Pengantin 2005 by Kumpulan Karangkraf.
A competition to find the best wedding gown fashion designer with the touch of houte couture, creative and innovative in their design to set them apart from the normal wedding designer.

Winner -of the Diamond Needle Award (Anugerah Jarum Berlian) by Malaysia highest distributed newspaper, the Utusan Malaysia. Designers were ask to create a 6 pieces collection inclusive of casual, evening and a couture wear.
The designs are judge from the authenticity, identity and the level of creativity of the designers. An established designer from Eric Way headed the juries.

Anugerah Era
Was selected as one of the 5 fashion designers to showcase their work in the Malaysian highest and prestigious Radio Award, the Anugerah Era. The theme of the design was Gothic Rock Star.

2007
Best Dress - Anugerah Bintang Popular 06
Anugerah Bintang Popular is the highest entertainment award in Malaysia. This is the award where all artistic and popular individuals are selected by the readers of Berita Harian, Malaysian Malay newspaper.

Hatta Dolmat has been selected as the Best Designer for his creation weared by Malaysian Cinema Primadona, Erra Fazira.

Top 3 - Project RunwayMalaysia 2007.

Hatta Dolmat was selected as the one of the 15 Finalist for the first Malaysian Project Runway 2007, a franchise of the Project Runway US. His tenacity and hard work has proved a success when he was selected a few time as the best designer in the 10 episode fashion reality TV show.

Hatta “survived” the competition until the last 3 finalist, and come out with an innovative design the Neo Romantic.

Ethnic Chic : Fashion Fantasia

Winner of the Ethnic Chic Design Award 2007 Singapore Design Competition by Singapore Fashion Society.
An international fashion competition comprises of designers from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the Southeast Asia countries. The competition look for the best designers to come out with the creation with strong ethnic and cultural touch.

HATTA DOLMAT :2008 Bumiputra Designer Association

Making his debut for the first time in M-IFW for the Designer of the Bumiputra Designer Association (BDA), and established to champion and promote bumiputra (indigenous) fashion talents.
Hatta was selected to represent one of the 14 most talented designers and were asked to come out with a design that presenting a diverse ranging from traditional to contemporary, opulent to classic”

MIF-W 2008 TEN RISING STAR

Hatta was selected as Malaysian 10 Rising Star by Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) for the 2008 Malaysian International Fashion Week.

The selection of the Rising Stars are based on the most promising protégée for the Malaysian Fashion to those designer with identity to be introduced to the International Fashion world .

The faces and names of the Rising Stars are not unfamiliar. Some are already peaking, creating stirs wherever they go, prompting whispers of awe whenever they showcase. All of them are no strangers to fashion competitions, contests and awards.

MIFA has handpicked Hatta Dolmat as one of the designers be thrust forward in the International platform as curious global buyers and media enquiries about faces to watch.

Anugerah Bintang Popular (ABP)
Hatta revisit his stardom in 2006, to win again the 2007 -ABPBH Most Popular Designer award (ABPBH 07 ).
His winning was based on the highest vote by the Malaysian highest circulated newspaper for the dress wore by Julia Ziegler.

In this competition, designers are tested to come out with the best design that incorporate the Malaysia Batik with the most commercial cut to be introduce to the international Market.

2009
For three consecutive years, Hatta Dolmat has won again as the best designers in the Anugerah Bintang Popular (ABPBH 08) with his first attempt to design Men Clothes.

A new male celebrity, by the name of Iz, was selected to wear Hatta Dolmat songket influence design. Hatta Dolmat creation of a European street style trench coat, was accepted as the best Male Design for the year.

FFKL Designer : FASHION FIESTA KUALA LUMPUR,

The FFKL was an effort of Berita Harian to popularized Songket, a very traditional, authentic and very expensive cloths of Malaysia into the international level.

Ten designers were selected to showcase their design using this material, and Hatta Dolmat was one of them.
The opportunity which was too good to be true, and Hatta Dolmat took the inspiration and idea the combination of a contemporary design and the element of traditional material and created a winning work of art, which won the Anugerah Berita Harian Best Designer for Male Design.

2009 : hatta was selected as one of 8 celebrites in LEVI'S IMPRINT ACCELERATE KOL programme.
